Parent Involvement

Parent and Carer Engagement and Involvement at Bimbadeen Heights Primary
School

There are so many ways to get involved and support your child’s learning journey with us

Parent Involvement

Welcome to the Bimbadeen Heights Primary School community! At Bimbadeen, we value parent involvement as an essential part of creating a supportive and enriching environment for our students. We appreciate the time and energy our families contribute, whether in the classroom, on excursions, or during special events.

Classroom Involvement and Code of Conduct

Parents who are interested in volunteering within the classroom are invited to complete our ‘Classroom Helpers Course’ at the beginning of each school year. This course prepares volunteers by providing an overview of classroom routines, expectations, and effective ways to support our students’ learning experience.

All classroom volunteers are required to comply with our school’s Code of Conduct and adhere to the Child Safe Standards set by the Department of Education. These guidelines ensure that everyone working with students upholds a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Together, we prioritise student safety to create a positive and secure learning atmosphere.

Helping on School Excursions and Year Level Special Activities

Throughout the year, classroom helpers have the opportunity to join school excursions as supervisors, enriching off-campus learning experiences for our students. Whether it’s a trip to the
zoo, a museum, or a nature reserve, your involvement makes these experiences even more memorable.

During our annual Swimming Week, extra support is invaluable for assisting students with their gear and ensuring a safe, positive experience. Having additional helpers makes a big difference in creating a smooth and enjoyable event for everyone.

We also rely on a high number of adult helpers for Inter-School Sporting Activities for students in Years 3-6. Without this essential support, our ability to participate in these valuable experiences may be impacted. Your involvement not only ensures safe and enjoyable events but also helps us maintain a broad range of learning opportunities for our students.

Supporting Special Classroom Activities

Classroom helpers are also valued for their contributions during special classroom activities. On cooking days, for example, additional hands help create a fun, engaging, and safe learning environment for our students. In the junior school, helpers assist students in developing ICT skills, providing essential support as young students explore and learn in a digital setting.

Providing Daily Reading Support and Literacy Practice

Daily reading support is another invaluable area where classroom helpers make a difference. Teachers welcome helpers who provide students with the additional practice they need to grow as confident readers. In Foundation and Year 1, classroom helpers also support students in learning their “tricky words,” offering guided help and practise that enhances each child’s reading journey.

Supporting School Events

Each year, we hold Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls where parent volunteers assist students in selecting gifts, helping to create special memories for the children. We are also grateful for parents who help manage these stalls, adding to the success of these beloved events.

Helping with the Second-Hand Uniform Stall

Our second-hand uniform stall is a valuable resource for families, promoting sustainability within our school community. Parent volunteers help keep it organised, sort donations, and assist families with uniform purchases, ensuring smooth operation and accessible resources for all.

Isn't it time we got to know each other?
